01:28 pm - back at good 'ole Leicester Soooooooo............. After 5 whole weeks of constant travel i find myself in my own bed back in good ole Hastings House, Digby. It's so good to be back but even sweeter because i get to come home home soon. I have had the time of my life here but i'm ready to go home. What i'm not ready to do is say goodbye to everyone i've met here. I have made so many unbelievably awesome friends here and I wish i could take them home too. But i don't doubt that i will see most of them again. This summer is going to be amazing, i'm sure. i feel as though i truly can do anything now, and i'm really not that scared of the future as i once was. I can't wait to see everyone at home. i've missed you terribly and thought of you all often.
i love you guys and I will see you soon. Current Location: Leicester Current Mood: ecstatic Current Music: lifes

12:06 pm - barcelona.... Well, after spending 18.5 hours on a train, and a night in the beautiful city of Nice, France i now find myself reunited with my travel companions Jeff and Aengus as well as some other of our friends from Leicester in Barcelona. I am exhausted and sore and running on a McDonalds meal that will hopefully last me until dinner and i´m in dire need of a shower, however on the bright note, our hostel is beautiful, i got to see the sunrise in Spain and I´m with some great people in this gorgeous city. Everything is good. We will stay here for the next two night then move on to Valencia, and finally ending with Madrid. I will try to update again soon.

02:15 pm - Salzburg, Venice, and Budapest heyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy i can't believe how fast this holiday is going. we only have 3 weeks left, which of course is a lot but still doesn't seem like enough time. After we left Munich we took the train to Salzburg, Austria. It was absolutely beautiful, i have never seen anything like it. Unfortunately we were only able to spend one day there so we walked around the city for most of the day and then saw the Sound of Music that night which plays in the hostel every night at 8 because that's where it was filmed. We had a 6.5 hour train ride to Venice which was the most gorgeous train ride i've ever been on. Our plans to stay for a couple nights didn't work out because of the Easter weekend so we only stayed a night and two full days. We met two other Americans and had dinner and wine with them and it was such a surreal experience. The hostel we stayed at that night was really shady, it had ants crawling all over so none of us would put our stuff on the floor but oh well. Last night we took the sleeper train through Croatia and Slovenia to Budapest where we are spending the next 2 nights before we go back to Rome. Everything we have done has been so easy going. Even when our plans went bust we didn't worry we just had to figure out another way to go about it. We have split up from the boys now so it's just Cassie, Jocelyn and myself. but we will meet up with Aengus and Jeff in Madrid on the 29th. Unfortunately, us three girls are sharing a bad cold right now but i think once we get in the Sun in Spain for a while we will be feeling better.

05:21 am - Rome, Koln, and Munich Sorry i haven't written much but internet is kinda expensive here. i had a great time in Rome. it was so beautiful and warm and i actually got burned the first day there. I saw a lot i didn't see the first time around so i was glad. I actuallz got to put my feet in the Mediterrean Sea!!! it was so exciting. It's weird living out of a backpack but it makes some things much simpler, for instance, what am i going to wear? Well i guess i'll just wear the jeans i've worn for the past 3 days. Simple enough. After Rome i went back to England just for a Few Hours before i met half of my travel buddies in Stansted Airport. We went to Dusseldorf and then caught a train to Koln where we got lost for a couple hours then finally found another person from ourgroup who directed us to our hostel. then that day running on no sleep i climbed 509 stairs of the tallest cathedral in Europe. it was amazing. the next day we just walked around the city visiting various sites. Now we are in Munich, yesterday we went to Dachau, which is was a concentration camp it was so incredibily sad but i'm really glad i went. We also went on a walking tour of Munich today which showed a lot of the city. We are going to the Haufbrahaus tonight for a drink then it's early to bed because we are off to Austria tomorrow. We had a bit of trouble booking hostels in Italy because of it being easter so now we maybe going to Greece! Well that's all for now i'll try to update again soon.

12:03 pm - AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So today is probably one of the most stressful days in my life. I have to pack everything i will possibly need for 5 weeks in one backpack. I have to pack my entire room up and put it in storage even though i'm coming back to the exact same room. I have to turn in a paper that i don't know if there is a particular time constraint today. ohhhhh dear. on the other hand i will be backpacking europe by this time tomorrow!!!!! And somehow that makes everything okay. i wanted to make sure to write today because i don't know how often i'll update once i get started. so just to let you know where i'll be.
from tomorrow until next friday i'll be in Rome. Then i'm flying to Koln, Germany, from Koln, we're going to munich, From Munich, to Salzburg, Austria, Austria to Venice, Venice to Florence, Florence back to Rome Then we take a ferry to spain where i'll go from Barcelona to Madrid, Then Madrid to San Sebastin, Then to Paris and finally# Ending up in Amsterdam for our last 3 days.

03:15 pm - Blast from the Past.... Digby Ball was last night and it was a lot of fun. it was one of those times you don't realize you are having such a good time until it is over. Just to give you an idea of some of the costumes. I dressed as a Newsboy from 1900s, Fort dressed as a young bob dylan and looked absolutely perfect, Cassie dressed as Carrie Bradshaw from Sex in the City curly hair and all, she was so incredibly cute, and Jocey dressed as a chick from the 60s, she looked beautiful, Timothy dressed as Buddy Holly and was absolutely amazing, other costumes were Teenage Mutant Turtles, Knights, Babies, Gangsters, Smurfs, Minnie Mouse, 80s dancers, Madonna ( that was Zoe and she looked just like her!) Scarface, a Preist and the karate kid. Whew, there were many many more, and some people just dressed up in nice clothes. Everyone looked just great! I even sold a paper last night so i'm considering quiting school and just selling papers instead, as long as i can do it here. :) They actually played some older music and it really got everyone dancing. I had a great time dancing like crazy with everyone and was so sad when it ended. it was our last hurrah so i'm glad it was a good one. The rest of this weekend is very strictly devoted to writing papers so i can't write anymore but i miss you all and will see you in 8 weeks!

11:21 am - Fancy Dress Ball my time is winding down here and it makes me so incredibly sad. I really will miss everything here. It's weird how attached you become to things and people. However there will be one last hurrah this friday... i mean tomorrow! yikes! we are having a 'blast fromt he past' fancy dress ball for all the residents of Digby! I have decided that I am going as a Newsie! yay! i just need to get short pants and i'm set. um... and a couple of newspapers. A couple of us are going shopping today. Then the rest of my weekend is very strictly dedicated to writing papers. boo. but oh well.
In 8 days i will be on my spring break, backpacking Europe. I'm so excited!
